Anna Kalinskaya retires from round of 16 match against Anisimova; Russian talent looking out of depth

There are a lot of great players in the Canadian Open who we were looking forward to and one of them was Russian prodigy Anna Kalinskaya who even after a long break from the game has been playing some great tennis recently and had made it through to the round of 16. The Russian was even one of the highest seeded players in the tournament as well and could also be a top contender as well.

Anna Kalinskaya was set to play her round of 16 match against American Amanda Anisimova and was no doubt the favorite to win the contest as well. Unfortunately  Anna went on to lose the first set by a score of 6-2 and had to retire from the match eventually which ended her chances in the game straight away. In the end it was a disappointing result for the Russian who was looking really good in the earlier games.

Anna could not take the heat

This was another sad ending for Anna who was looking completely out of sorts in this match. The Russian prodigy after the first set was not looking a 100% and had to call out her camp during the game. Anna was not feeling well and she was looking completely out of depth throughout the game. It seemed like that Anna could not take the heat and eventually had to retire and end her tournament without reaching the playoffs. This was another disappointing end to her hard court season where she was just about making a comeback after recovering from injury.

This might not be the way Anna would have planned her Hard court season and she will not be happy that she has once again ended her tournament without finishing the game. We hope that she gets back to fitness straight away and make another solid comeback into the season. We know that Anna is a talented player but we still want to see her finally reach her peak in the game.
