Tennis star Elina Svitolina has stormed into the semi-finals of the Mutua Madrid Open 2025. The Ukrainian star defeated Moyuka Uchijima with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-1 in the quarter-finals clash. The star player has made it to the semifinals in the Spanish capital, Madrid, for the first time in her career.

The 30-year-old WTA star has dominated in the quarter-finals and defeated her opponent in straight sets to mark a stellar victory. Svitolina has won 78 percent on the first serve. She has recently won the WTA 250 Rouen Open title and is currently on a nine-match winning streak after storming into the semi-finals of the Madrid Open.

After storming into the semi-finals, Elina Svitolina acknowledged the support of her nation and later gave big credit to them for being with her amid the war with Russia. The star player also runs a foundation to promote tennis prodigies and this sport in her nation.

β€œWell, I have lots on my plate, but yeah, I draw energy, motivation from people. Yeah, just when I go back to Ukraine, just you know, I get so much energy from the older people that are right now over there having a tough time and yeah, just trying to keep it up and bring some wins for Ukraine,” Svitolina said via the Tennis Letter.

Meanwhile, Elina Svitolina is now set to have a daunting task in the next round. The Ukrainian star is set to face world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 clay court event. Svitolina has the best form at this moment, and she can be a strong titleholder if she eliminates the Belarusian in this game.
