Tennis star Elina Svitolina has recently talked about the special role her husband, Gael Monfils, plays on her WTA tour. The star player opened up about the Frenchman's support after defeating WTA top player Elena Rybakina in the ongoing Mutua Madrid Open 2025.
Elina Svitolina has been in magnificent form in the last few tournaments. After her poor showing in the Indian Wells and Miami Open 2025, the Ukrainian star staged her magnificent comeback in the recently concluded Rouen Open 2025. She won the 250 WTA title and now extends her winning streak with a strong start to her campaign in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

Elina Svitolina aims to seal a quarter-final berth in the Mutua Madrid Open 2025!
The star player made a magnificent start to her 1000 clay court event, where she defeated Sonay Kartal with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-1 in the opening round. The 30-year-old tennis star continued her stellar form in the next round as she defeated Grand Slam winner Elena Rybakina in the second round to storm into the pre-quarter-finals. She will be looking to defeat Maria Sakkari in the fourth round to book a berth in the quarters.
After her win over the 25-year-old Kazakh star, the Ukraine-born star has credited Gael Monfils for pushing her to take the game to the pinnacle of her level. Svitolina was seen proudly talking about Monfils' victory in the ASB Classic in Auckland and her recent title victory at the Rouen Open 2025.
"I feel like we are motivating each other, me and Gael. Keep pushing, keep trying to win matches, and win titles. He won a title in Auckland and I last week in Rouen. We’re trying to keep up with each other and just trying to enjoy every opportunity that we have," Elina Svitolina said after the win.
