Tennis star Boris Becker has recently talked about his major concerns about world number three Carlos Alcaraz's mental health and further lashed out at his team over the way they are handling his career. Ahead of the clay season of this year, the Spaniard was seen talking about the challenge he has been facing during some of the difficult phases of this year.

Notably, Alcaraz suffered a first-round defeat in the Miami Open 2025 after losing the game against David Goffin. After that, he revealed that he had considered stepping away from the tennis game for several months. He revealed that he got mentally disturbed after losing to Goffin in the opening round.

However, tennis legend Boris Becker feels that the 21-year-old star player is unable to deal with expectations and pressure. The six-time major champion feels that the 21-year-old star player acts like a machine. The 57-year-old legend feels that Alcaraz should have proper communication either with his coach or father, as he needs to be in the right mentality for a minimum of ten years.

“We’re talking about a 21-year-old who couldn’t cope with the expectations and the pressure anymore. We’re talking about mental health. Someone like that almost reached the point of depression. So those around him have to ask themselves, Haven’t we done something wrong? Demanding too much of such a young player? He almost has to act like a machine… At 21, it’s hard to say no. We have to protect Carlos from himself. But the point is that you can see that he’s overexerting himself; he does too much,” Boris Becker said.
