Tennis star Carlos Alcaraz's father, Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez, has recently recalled his own unfulfilled tennis dream in the documentary series that features his son. Gonzalez said that he is currently living the dream of his son, who has established himself as one of the most formidable players on the ATP tour, having won four Grand Slam titles and 18 ATP titles at the age of just 21.
During the second episode of the recently released documentary Carlos Alcaraz: My Way, Alcaraz's father talked about his childhood and how he grew up playing this game. He also talked about getting his first-ever win in tennis.
Gonzalez revealed that his parents didn't have enough financial resources, and this was the reason he could not take this sport on a professional level. However, he talked about how he tried hard to give everything to help his son become a professional player.
"Today, I'm living my dream through Carlos. I grew up in a working-class neighbourhood with hard-working people. Tennis was my passion. My dream was to be a professional. I got my first wins at a regional level, then at the national level. But my parents didn't have sufficient financial resources, so by the time I was 19 or 20, it was obvious I wasn't going to be a professional player. When Carlos really started to stand out, we looked for financial support because the costs are high," Gonzalez said.
Carlos Alcaraz eyes French Open 2025 victory!
Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz is gearing up for the French Open 2025. The Spaniard has pulled out from the Mutua Madrid Open 2025 due to leg injuries. The four-time Grand Slam winner sustained injuries in the Barcelona Open 2025 final against Holger Rune.
Despite that, we might see him playing in the Italian Open 2025 to bolster the preparations for the French Open 2025. The 21-year-old tennis player has won the ABN AMRO Open and the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 tournament this year and now aims to win his first Grand Slam of the current year after failing to do so in the Australian Open.
