Alex De Minaur overcame Taylor Fritz 7-6, 6-3 in the ATP Finals 2025, which was also his first win over the American in six of their meetings. The emerging star will make it to the semifinal if Carlos Alcaraz claims a win over Lorenzo Musetti in his match. De Minaur failed to believe it to be the case and claimed to wait and see how things go.
Alex claimed one of the biggest wins of his career, as he overcame the ATP World No.4 at the ATP Finals 2025. Coming into the match, De Minaur had never beaten Taylor in a singles match. However, he did exactly what was needed to overcome Fritz, and did so by claiming a win in straight sets.

In the first set, both of them delivered a neck-to-neck performance. However, De Minaur dominated the second set and closed out the match well. Alex couldn't believe that he had beaten Fritz. In the post-match talk, he was reminded that Alcaraz's win over Musetti could help him make it to the semifinal.
"I don't trust you right now," - Alex De Minaur's funny reply to the reporter's question
"All you need now is Alcaraz to win tonight and you're into the semifinals," the reporter asked in the interview. However, he refused to believe anything the reporter had to say. Given the shock factor, he wanted to clarify it with the reporter if it was indeed the case.
He hoped to find out by waiting for the match between Carlos and Musetti. "Is that actually true or not? Uh. I don't know, I don't trust you right now, I'm gonna have to see what happens," De Minaur said.
