Daniil Medvedev showed up at the Tennis Channel’s VIP Tennis Lounge and was hosted by Garbine Muguruza ahead of the Hart Court Season and the US Open 2025. A Formula 1 and a Car Enthusiast, Medvedev did not hesitate to express his love towards automobiles when asked about the stuff he would gift himself after winning his second Grand Slam.

"I have a lot of things already! But I actually like to set myself goals sometimes. When we’re talking about big titles… Well, I like cars a lot, so next Grand Slam—a car for sure," said Medvedev, as he hoped to gift himself a car after winning his next and second Grand Slam.

Medvedev last won his Grand Slam at the US Open in 2021 and stopped Novak Djokovic from achieving the Calendar Golden Slam. In the period 2021-22, he was among the best players in the world, where he topped the ATP World Rankings for certain weeks and even made it to the final of the Australian Open 2022.

"The check in the US is already quite expensive, with 20 percent" - Daniil Medvedev

After the end of his talk with Muguruza, Medvedev was welcomed by the arrival of the check, much like how the previous guests, like Nick Kyrgios, Carlos Alcaraz, and Aryna Sabalenka, had to go through. Medvedev questioned the humorous charges and a fine for four of his 'bad jokes'. The Russian could not help but to take a sunny dig at the US tipping system.

"The problem in the U.S. is that the check is already quite expensive! And then you add 20 percent, and then there’s going to be tax, and then there’s going to be this or that…" Medvedev said.

The star player will be in action in the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington, D.C. from July 21 to 27.
