Notably, the 22-year-old tennis player reached the finals of the Mutua Madrid Open 2025 before losing against world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the final clash. She continued her stellar form in the Italian Open 2025, where she defeated Mirra Andreeva and now stormed into the semi-finals. With Sabalenka and Swiatek crashing out from the WTA singles event, Gauff has the stellar chance to win the title here to bolster the preparations for the French Open 2025.

In her recent interview, the American star revealed that she is having great chemistry with the 19-year-old young star. She lauded how the team has been performing here and praised her partner Eala's aggressive game plan.

However, Gauff revealed that sometimes it is very difficult for her to find her footing in the doubles again, considering that she has played this format much less compared to the singles event. The world number three revealed that she has apologised to her partner many times, as the 19-year-old tennis star has to cover up for her when she struggles to get her form in this format.

"And in our match yesterday, she definitely got MVP for that. I was just kind of there. So, I told her sometimes I forget how to play because sometimes it's been a while. It's just one of those things. You know how they say you don't forget how to ride a bike? Doubles, you definitely forget how to play. I told her I'm like a deer on ice at the net; that's what I feel like. Many times I've apologised to her, but she's quick; she's fast so she's there to cover me," Coco Gauff said.
