Tennis star Coco Gauff has suffered defeat in the Mutua Madrid Open 2025 final. The USA stalwart faltered against eventual winner Aryna Sabalenka. Despite this final loss, the star player was ecstatic after making her comeback. She has not been able to win the big matches in the recent WTA tours, but her final appearance sent a shocked wave to the tennis fraternity ahead of the French Open 2025.
Gauff has defeated world number two and five-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals to storm into the final showdown. The 21-year-old star suffered defeat in the quarter-finals in the Stuttgart Open while crashing out in the Round of 16 in Indian Wells and the Miami Open. She even failed to mark her impression in the Australian Open 2025 after star player Paula Badosa defeated her in the last eight rounds. However, her stellar performance on the clay court swing allowed her to storm into the finals here.
Despite losing a title here, the American star player did not stop expressing her religious beliefs in her post-match speech. She was seen giving a surprisingly religious speech after losing against the world number one. Gauff began her speech by thanking the Lord and Jesus Christ for giving her a chance to play in the final. She also showcased sportsmanship spirit when she sent a heartwarming message to eventual winner Aryna Sabalenka.
