Jannik Sinner suffered a shocking loss at the Halle Open in the second round, as he was knocked out of the tournament by Alexander Bublik. The world Number 1 Men's Singles player lost to the 45th-ranked player in the world by 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. On the other hand, Carlos Alcaraz overcame Jaume Munar in the London ATP 500 to attain the longest winning streak of his career.

Sinner had a great record against his opponents since August 2024. From the Cincinnati Open last year, the star player had not lost to anyone other than Alcaraz. It was also his first loss to a player ranked below 20 since 2023. Following the major win, Bublik claimed it to be a special win. He claimed to have a better chance on grass than he had at the Roland Garros.

"We are tennis players and we try to win every match we play, but it is a special one. I had never beaten a No. 1 in the world. It is an accomplishment. I kept serving. I tried to be clutch. I tried to get back whatever I could. He is an unbelievable player, and I was not thinking that I could beat him. But I had a few chances and executed them well," said Bublik, as quoted by ATP.

"I kept serving. I had better chances than at Roland Garros. I stayed there, tried to return as many as serve aces, so the ball doesn’t come back, and it worked really well," Bublik added after he overcame Sinner in Halle. He now has a better record of 2-0 against the world number 1 in Halle.

Carlos Alcaraz registers the longest winning streak of his career

Elsewhere, Carlos Alcaraz was taken to his limits by his fellow national, Jaume Munar, in the London ATP 500, in which he claimed a win of 6-4, 6-7 (7-9), 7-5, after the match lasted for over 200 minutes. While the match was long, Alcaraz was able to hang in and claim a win to extend his insane winning streak.

The Spaniard has now won 15 matches in a row, which marks the longest streak in his career. The 22-year-old has a tremendous winning record of 22-1 on grass courts since 2023. By beating Munar, Alcaraz made it to the 9th Quarterfinal of the 2025 season, the most for a player.
