Indian-origin 19-year-old US Tennis Player Nishesh Basavareddy stuns the 10-time Australian Open Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic after a marathon rally win against the Serbian in the first round of the Australian Open tournament in Melbourne.
Tennis great Novak Djokovic is hunting for his 11th Australian Open title and 2025 could be his final year. The 37-year-old started his campaign against american player Nishesh Basavareddy who is currently leading against the Serbian with 4-6 in the first set.

Nishesh stuns Djokovic
The biggest highlight was the rally between him and the legendary tennis player. The two were stranded with 2-2 and Djokovic started his serve and both hit the ball back and forth with all aggression. Then the rally started to get intense and Novak Djokovic pushed Nishesh to his limits from one corner to the other the Indian origin player never gave up and he rallied with the Serbian. At one point Novak lost control and became tired and then Nishesh took advantage of the situation.
He moved the 10-time Australian Open winner from one side to the other and in the end emerged victorious. It was some great fighting spirit from the 19-year-old youngster and that too against the greatest of all time Novak Djokovic.

Basavareddy is leading the first round against Novak as the game is happening. He is one of the Indian origins playing in the first grand slam of the 2025 season. The opening day was a big heartbreak for all Indian fans as Sumit Nagal lost the match against Tomas Machac.
Everyone is very hopeful with the Indian player but he gave his best and couldn't progress to the next round. We still have reigning grand slam winner Bopanna in the doubles. If Basavareddy defeats Djokovic in the first round then he will make history and his name will be remembered forever. Novak lost just 2 opening matches at the Australian Open since 2010.
