The ATP has announced the distribution of $1.3 million to 26 players in the inaugural year of Baseline. Launched in 2024 as part of a bold three-year trial, this groundbreaking initiative guarantees minimum earnings for Top 250 players for the very first time in tennis history.

This mammoth $1.3 million has been allocated to eligible players under Baseline’s three crucial pillars: Minimum Guarantee, Income Protection, and Newcomer Investment.

Minimum income guaranteed for Top 250

Baseline has taken a significant step by implementing guaranteed minimum income levels for the Top 250-ranked singles players, creating a financial safety net that supports athletes regardless of their performance on the court. In 2024, 17 players reaped the benefits of this Minimum Guarantee, with the ATP ensuring that any discrepancies in earnings below the set thresholds were covered.

Notably, the updated thresholds for 2025 will guarantee that all players finishing in the Top 250 earn a minimum of $100,000, provided they participate in at least 15 events.

Seven players have directly benefited from the final pillar, Newcomer Investment. This initiative specifically targets players breaking into the Top 125 for the first time, providing essential support that empowers rising stars to invest in their careers and establish their presence on the ATP Tour.

ATP Chairman's take on the initiative

“Baseline is a game-changer for the economics of a tennis player. We’re giving players the financial support they need to overcome challenges and build a sustainable career – whether they’re navigating injuries, setbacks in performance, or entering the Tour for the first time. With $1.3 million distributed to players in year one of Baseline, the impact is already clear. And, with expansions set for 2025, this is just the beginning.” said ATP chairman
