Carlos Alcaraz finished 2025 as the ATP Number-1 ranked player after beating Lorenzo Musetti at the ATP Finals. It was an easy outing for the Spaniard, who claimed a 6-4, 6-1 win in the straight sets to top the Jimmy Connors Group. In the process, he qualified for the semifinal of the tournament.

One of the players in the semifinal, Jannik Sinner, finished 2024 as the top ranked ATP star. Alcaraz achieved the feat for the first time in 2023. In 2025, he became only the fourth player after the Big 3 to achieve the feat in more than one instance.

Andy Murray was at his best in the late 2000s and the early 2010s. The British finished 2016 as the ATP No.1 ranked player. However, the list is dominated by the Big 3, especially by Djokovic. While Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal achieved it in five instances, Djokovic finished as the ATP Number-1 ranked player in eight instances.

The Big 3's dominance in the ATP year-end No.1 awards

Federer's peak is possibly the greatest in the history of Tennis. In the period 2004-07, he finished as the ATP year-end No.1 in four consecutive seasons. After missing out in 2008, Federer returned to the top of the rankings and finished as one in 2009.

Nadal achieved the feat in 2008, 2010, 2013, 2017, and 2019. Djokovic achieved it for the first time in 2011 and defended it a year later. He reclaimed it in 2014 and went on to defend it again in 2015. The Serbian won the award again in 2018. Additionally, in the period 2020-22, he claimed a hat-trick of ATP year-end No.1 trophies.
