Arshad Nadeem and Jakub Vadlejch did not feature in the Javelin Throw in the Diamond League final 2024 in Brussels. The star throwers missed out due to different reasons. While Vadlejch was out of the final due to fatigue, Nadeem could not take part as he did not have enough points in the league to take part in the final in Brussels.

Anderson Peters and Neeraj Chopra went neck-to-neck in the final and were separated by a solitary centimeters which became determinant in the result of the event. While Peters registered a best throw of 87.87 meters in his first attempt, Neeraj came up with a throw of 87.86 meters in his third attempt.

Peters won his second Diamond League title and ended the season on a high. He could have gotten better challenges if Jakub and Arshad were in the event. However, the duo had didfferent reasons to not take part in the final. While the Czech thrower cited fatigue as the reason, Nadeem was inelegible.

Scoring system in the Diamond League

To know why Arshad Nadeem was ineligible, one must know how the Diamond League works. There are multiple events in the Diamond League in a year and an athlete will be allowed to take part in all of them. The top 6 or 8 athletes with the highest number of points by the end of the season will get a chance to take part in the final.

Winning a Javelin Throw event would give the athlete 8 points. Finishing 2nd and 3rd in an event would give the athletes 7 and 6 points respectively. In the 2024 season, Peters finished the top with an overall points of 29. Julian Weber was second with a total of 21 points.

Neeraj Chopra and Jakub Vadlejch were 4th and 3rd respectively with 16 and 14 points respectively. While Vadlejch was eligible to take part in the final, he pulled out due to fatigue. Arshad was ineligible to take part, as he managed to bag just 5 points in the Diamond League 2024 season.
