In his illustrious career, Adam Copeland, the Rated R Superstar, has focused on another "R": retirement. The WWE Hall of Famer, who started his career in 1992, has announced his plans for a second retirement from professional wrestling after more than thirty years in the industry. After sustaining a neck ailment in 2011, the 51-year-old was forced to retire. But at the 2020 Royal Rumble, he made a spectacular return after a nine-year hiatus.

He hopes to finish his career with AEW, where he signed a full-time, multi-year contract in 2023. In an interview with Stephen Brunt on Up Close, Cope said he hopes to end his professional career in the ring in the next two years and that he would like to fight younger opponents in his last bouts to leave a legacy of elevating up-and-coming talent.

Adam Copeland is aware that his time in the ring is coming to an end, but he has no intention of retiring without leaving a lasting impression. Cope stated in an interview with Stephen Brunt on Up Close that he hopes to utilise his final match to introduce the next generation.

"That's going to be the big decision for me. Who do I get in there with last? I'd love to get in there with a young person and just try and starp a rocket to him. In my last match, what can I do try to get someone set up? Or at least another block in the foundation to set them up to be able to take it further and further." "The old guy who is hanging on, he's still got some fight left. “I’m thinking maybe two years. Being off with a broken leg has kind of extended it. Six months that I’ve been off, tack that on,” he said.

Adam Copeland is still a major wrestler in AEW

Due to his ongoing conflict with AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Cope remains a major wrestler in AEW for the time being. He joins forces with FTR, Powerhouse Hobbs, and The Outrunners at AEW Collision Maximum Carnage to take on Death Riders (Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli) and The Learning Tree (Big Bill, Bryan Keith, and Chris Jericho). Copeland missed six months of activity at Double or Nothing 2024 due to a broken leg. He finally returned at Worlds End and has since taken on the ring name "Cope."Adam Copeland has recently clarified the reason behind the name change.
