Virat Kohli revealed the names of his favourite Kabaddi players during the opening ceremony of the Pro Kabaddi League 2019. The star player was not just asked about his favourite player but was also asked to pick his ideal Playing 7 of a Kabaddi team featuring his cricket teammates. Kohli included the names of several athletic players from his team before picking the names of his favourite Kabaddi players.

Kohli claimed Kabaddi is a Sport which requires a lot of athleticism and strength. He hence felt MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Umesh Yadav could make the cut. Virat further added the names of Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant in the Playing 7. The Indian player finished the cut by including KL Rahul as the 7th player.

"It requires a lot of strength and athleticism. So, I would say, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Umesh Yadav. Umesh is really strong. Rishabh Pant as well. I would say Bumrah because he can really work on a toe-touch. One more… I am not even going to include myself because these guys are stronger and more athletic. The last one would be KL Rahul. That’s my seven," said Virat.

Kohli was then asked about his favourite Kabaddi players. The star player claimed Rahul Chaudhari to be his favourite player. The Indian cricketer added that Ajay Thakur shared a great camaraderie with Rahul which almost reminded him of the one between him and Dhoni. In the process, Virat Kohli compared himself and MS to Rahul and Ajay respectively. 

"Rahul Chaudhari and Ajay Thakur. They have great camaraderie. So, I think those two would be a direct copy of me and Mahi [Dhoni]," added Virat in his statement. The opening ceremony of the PKL 2019 took place in Mumbai, Hence, the former Indian captain made an effort to attend the ceremony and helped to promote the sport with his presence.
