AEW Dynamite's show on the 17th of April 2024 started with the new NJPW Champion Jon Moxley addressing the crowd. Mox claimed that his journey has been of great difficulties and little support, remembering his maiden title back in 2006. The NJPW champion addressed Don Callis's family and picked Powerhouse Hobbs as the opponent for the next week.

To follow it up was the promo from Mercedes Mone. She addressed the attack on her from the last week and doubted some wrestlers. Mone felt either Julian Hart or Willow Nightingale might be responsible for her attack. In the backstage, Nightingale was attacked by an undisclosed person. Adam Copeland and Willow teamed up for a mixed tag team match against House of Black.

The match was brief and saw House of Black winning due to the stoppage from the referee. After the match, Mone attacked Julian with a steel chair. There were a couple of promos cut by Samoa Joe and Okada before the commercial break. After that, a tag team match took place between The Elite and Daniel Garcia, Death Triangle. The Elite claimed a win through pinfall.

Will Ospreay beat Hidden Blade

There was a segment later on between Hook and Chris Jericho. The two had a verbal banter in the promo which led to them challenging each other. To follow it was the match between Mariah May and Deonna Purrazzo. After delivering a sunset flip, Deonna claimed an impressive win. Shane Taylor and Orange Cassidy faced each other in a match. After delivering a pretty Orange punch, Cassidy claimed a win over Taylor.

The main event of the night was between Will Ospreay and Hidden Blade. It was a good match and the fans were involved in it. In the end, Ospreay stood tall by pinning Blade. After the show, there was a message sent from Shane Strickland to Samoa Joe for their match in AEW Dynasty. The AEW Champion came to the arena and attacked Shane. The brawl had to be stopped by the security guards.
