Imane Khelif scripted history and became the first female Boxer to win an Olympic gold for Algeria. She became the first Algerian to win a gold medal since Hocine Soltani in the Atlanta Olympics 2024. Khelif attained glory following the widespread campaign for her competition in the Olympics. Given her appearances and the past record, many wanted her to be disqualified.

In the final of the women's 66kg category, the Algerian beat Yang Liu of China 5-0 in her three rounds showing a dominant performance. After the win, Liu appreciated the Boxer and claimed to learn a lot from her. The fans chanted Khelif's name throughout her bout and showed their support not just for the match but for the criticism she has been facing on social media.

After the win, Imane Khelif got emotional. She claimed herself to be a woman born and lived so. Khelif felt some of the individuals couldn't digest her success. She was happy to claim herself as an Olympic champion and a gold medalist. The controversial boxer said she worked hard for 8 years and had sleepless nights. The Algerian Boxer said it was the best way to answer her haters.

"I am a woman like any woman. I was born a woman and I have lived as a woman but there are enemies to success and they can’t digest my success. This is my dream. Eight years, my dream. I’m an Olympic champion and gold medallist. I’m very happy. For eight years, I have worked," said Khelif after winning the gold medal bout in the Women's 66kg category at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Khelif's win was celebrated by her coaches and fans. They carried her on their shoulders and gave her a victory lap. Some of the users on social media were still concerned by her win claiming her to be a male. Others backed her saying she was a born female. Khelif was disqualified from the World Boxing Championship 2023 in New Delhi by IBA for having high testosterone levels.
