The outcome of Vinesh Phogat's appeal to get a Silver medal by CAS is likely to be out by the end of the Paris Olympics 2024. In a couple of days, one could find out whether Vinesh would get the Silver medal or not. As the Indian wrestler filed an appeal for her loss, the CAS accepted but could not process a hearing due to a lack of time.

By the time CAS accepted the appeal, the medal bouts of Vinesh's category were over. The USA Wrestler, Sarah Ann Hildebrandt, whom Phogat was to face in the final, ended up clinching the Gold medal in the event. The Cuban wrestler Yusneylis Guzman whom Phogat beat in the semis 5-0 ended up getting the Silver medal in the event.

On her way to the final, Vinesh beat an incredible wrestler like Yui Susaki who had never lost a bout at the international level till that point. Despite her massive efforts, Phogat was disqualified before the final as her weight proved to be 100 grams more than intended. The wide outrage from the Indian fans has led to mixed opinions from several popular personalities.

The decision to be out before the Paris Olympics 2024

Popular athletes like Sachin Tendulkar, Nikhat Zareen, and others have given their opinions on the bout. Given the pressure, it seems like the verdict could be out before the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024. The statement from CAS claimed that the final decision on the appeal could only be given by the sole arbitrator.

"The sole arbitrator's decision is expected to be issued before the end of the Olympic Games," claimed the statement from CAS. Dr Annabelle Bennett will be reviewing the appeal before making a decision. The fans are waiting to hear the result as soon as possible. For the closing ceremony, India has chosen Manu Bhaker and PR Sreejesh as the joint flagbearers.
