The 15-time European champions are set to clash against Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League next week. Injuries to both goalkeepers have raised concerns for the defending champions.

Andre Lunin and Thibaut Courtois doubtful for Champions League quarter-finals

With both primary goalkeepers sidelined, the team is grappling with a potential crisis just days before their crucial UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Arsenal. The upcoming week is going to be hectic, featuring a domestic match against Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, followed by an important trip to London to face the Gunners at the Emirates on Tuesday. Carlo Ancelotti finds himself lacking the resources who defend Madrid's goal lines.

As per the reports from Marca, Lunin is suffering from a muscle injury that may keep him out of action for at least four weeks. The club is hopeful that Lunin will be able to play the fixtures using painkillers. Playing Lunin despite his injury may take a toll not only on the player but also on Real Madrid, who don't have quality goalkeepers at their helm besides injury-laden Thibaut Courtois.

Thibaut Courtois is already rehabilitating from a muscle injury of his own, which he endured during the FIFA International windows in March. Courtois didn't start for the Galacticos in their last two fixtures against Leganes and Real Sociedad.

Should Andre Lunin fail to participate in the Champions League fixture, Real Madrid may be forced to hand a debut to their 19-year-old shot-stopper Fran Gonzalez. The young goalkeeper managed to amass three clean sheets out of the 16 matches he played for Real Madrid Castilla this season.

The Galacticos are set to face their arch-rivals, Barcelona, in the finals of the Copa Del Rey 2025 on April 26th. The availability of either of the two senior goalkeepers would be crucial for the team's success.
