Joan Laporta has expressed his gratitude to Real Madrid and their president, Florentino Perez, for their support during the Dani Olmo registration situation.
The two presidents discussed the matter at the Supercopa de España final in Jeddah, where Laporta acknowledged the neutral stance taken by Madrid regarding Olmo's re-registration. While clubs like Atletico Madrid and Sevilla opposed the move, Real Madrid viewed their rivalry in a broader context, considering Barcelona a strategic ally in this particular instance.
Joan Laporta expressed his gratitude
At a press conference, the Barcelona president asserted that he won't disclose the details of his conversation with Florentino and other club presidents. He expressed his sincere gratitude to those clubs that had chosen not to oppose their decision. He revealed that there was a strong sense of unity with Florentino, especially considering that Barcelona had nearly everything sorted out regarding the registration matters.
"I am not going to explain the conversation I had with Florentino and other presidents. Yes, I can tell you that I am grateful to the clubs that have not taken a position against our decision. It was an atmosphere of harmony with Florentino, knowing that we had everything more or less already arranged with the issue of registrations." Laporta said.
On Tuesday, Laporta announced that the club shall successfully re-register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, effectively dispelling an apocalyptic narrative. He also criticized La Liga and the RFEF, accusing them of attempting to destabilize the club. Both Olmo and Victor were part of the matchday squad for the Spanish Super Cup final, with Olmo coming on as a substitute to play 35 minutes, while Victor cheered from the bench as his team secured a commanding 5-2 victory.
Both the Spanish football giants Barcelona and Real Madrid will be back in action in their respective round of 16 encounter in Copa Del Rey.
