Barcelona has not yet registered Olmo to participate in La Liga as the Spanish Football Federation, and the league mutually denied Barca's requests to include him and Pau Victor on their roster. However, the National Sports Council ruled that both are permitted to participate until the matter is formally resolved. They may both play in the Supercopa de Espana and perhaps La Liga starting next week, but according to The Athletic, Barcelona was cautioned not to sign Olmo in the summer.

According to the report, Deco, the sports director, gave the financial department of Barcelona the numbers needed to acquire Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig in the summer. The Spain international was eventually acquired by Barcelona for 60 million euros plus add-ons, although the club's experts cautioned against finalising the transaction. It has turned out to be difficult for them to register Olmo, as they had thought.

Dani Olmo will start in Spanish Super Cup Final

The most probable player to start would be Olmo, although Hansi Flick informed the media during his pregame news conference (via MD) that Gavi is more likely to keep his spot following a solid performance against Athletic Club in the semi-final. In addition, Flick discussed the goalkeeping controversy he would encounter before the Superclasico. Wojciech Szczesny made his debut against Athletic because Inaki Pena was disciplined for being late to a Barcelona practice. Despite the Polish veteran's impressive performance, things might return to the way they were in the last few months of 2024.

Olmo and Victor's temporary registration is anticipated to last for around three months, during which time both players may be available for the following fifteen games across all competitions, including the Supercopa de Espana final and a crucial La Liga matchup with Atletico Madrid. Despite concerns over his registration, Olmo has remained dedicated to Barcelona. Whether and when the matter is ultimately resolved is still up in the air.
