Hansi Flick confirms Barcelona's goalkeeper for UCL semis

The Catalan manager has confirmed that Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny will start against Inter Milan at San Siro. In addition, Flick also informed that Szczesny will also feature in the fourth El-Classico of the season against Real Madrid the following weekend.

“Szczesny will be the goalkeeper on Tuesday against Inter and against Real Madrid,” Hansi Flick said.

Wojciech Szczesny was benched in Barçelona's last fixture against Real Valladolid. He, along with some other key players, was rested ahead of the UCL semifinals. Marc-André Ter Stegen replaced Szczesny in front of the goal after a seven-month absence due to a knee injury.

Szczesny has been in fine form since coming out of his retirement to keep for the Catalans. Since his debut, he has played 29 fixtures and kept fifty per cent of clean sheets. He also pulled off some heroic performances throughout this campaign for FC Barcelona. Although Marc-André Ter Stegen appeared solid in his return fixture, it is evident that the German coach doesn't want to risk anything in a high-stakes encounter.

The last victory against Real Valladolid consolidated Barcelona's lead at the top of the La Liga standings. Barcelona now has 79 points in 34 matches. Barcelona is being chased by their arch-rivals Real Madrid, who are in second position with 72 points, followed by Atletico Madrid in third place.
