David Datro Since Chelsea and AEK Athens continue to differ on a number of issues, Fofana's transfer to the Greek team may fall through. In the just ended summer transfer window, Fofana, who spent the previous season on two separate loan stints at Union Berlin as well as Burnley, was unable to gain an offer away from Stamford Bridge. The athlete was not allowed to participate in first-team activities since he had already been included in the list of players not in the plans of the team.

The misfit from the Blues was on the verge of joining AEK Athens on loan, with a £20 million buyout option for the following summer. Fabrizio Romano, however, now claims that the transfer could fall through at the last minute since the English team and the Greek powerhouses cannot agree on a number of factors.

During the second part of the 2023–24 season, the 21-year-old played well for Burnley, tallying four goals over 15 Premier League games. Before the Greek market closes, the English powerhouses will aim to come to an agreement and legally finalise the young player's loan move. The next time we see them in action is this Saturday night when they play Bournemouth.

Both parties' requests and intentions were evident and understandable, and given more time, maybe a solution could have been reached. However, considering that the conversations had been ongoing for a week, that may not have been the outcome.

Can Ben Chilwell and David Datro Fofana move to Turkey?

Regardless, Fofana's current situation is that he remains at Chelsea, training alongside other unwanted players like Ben Chilwell, until he manages to find a last-minute solution somewhere, like Türkiye, where the transfer window remains open until Friday.

Although Ben Chilwell of Chelsea has been linked to a move to Turkey, it appears that the full-back will remain in England for the time being. According to The Mirror, The Blues had made offers for Chilwell to "top clubs" in Turkey, but no agreement had been reached as of yet.
