Manchester United sit in the bottom half of the Premier League and the reason partly might be Casemiro. Even though he had a good season, in the past one and a half years, he has been a major problem for United. At a rumoured €70.65 million, Casemiro joined Manchester United during the summer transfer window of 2022. The Brazilian player made his debut prior to United's matchup at Old Trafford versus Liverpool.

In addition to helping United defeat Liverpool 2-1 despite the Brazilian's absence from the game, Casemiro's arrival appeared to be the turning point in the season. Erik ten Hag's team was able to turn their campaign around and create some balance and stability in the heart of the playing field thanks to the Brazilian's authority and willingness to support his defence.

In the 2022–23 season, the Brazilian, who was never renowned for his self-control, was given two consecutive red cards. On the pitch, though, his defensive impact was unparalleled. In all competitions, the defensive midfielder contributed seven goals as well as six assists. Alongside players like Rodri, he was regarded as one of the league's and the world's top defensive midfielders.

With 75 points at the end of the season, Manchester United finished third in the English Premier League and returned to the UEFA Champions League. In addition, the Red Devils won the EFL Cup, capping a five-year trophy drought, and lost the FA Cup final to Manchester City by a slim margin.

What has happened with Casemiro at Manchester United?

Everything was going great, but during the 2023–24 season, things rapidly went south. The fall of Casemiro was accompanied by Man United's decline in performance, and Erik ten Hag's team's season came to an end. In addition to Casemiro missing a significant portion of the season with an injury, Erik ten Hag's club has been plagued by ongoing injuries to important players, including academy graduates attempting to make an impression in the starting lineup.

It's also important to remember that during the 2022–2023 club season, the Brazilian appeared in 53 matches (two for Real Madrid and 51 for Manchester United). The 32-year-old's season total of appearances was the highest since his first season with Sao Paulo in 2012. Casemiro, who was 20 years old at the time, appeared in 50 games for the Brazilian team.
