On Sunday afternoon, Manchester United will play Liverpool at Old Trafford, and they'll be hoping to go back to winning ways fast. The Reds' first setback of the season came on Saturday as they lost 2-1 against Brighton & Hove Albion. Joao Pedro headed in the game-winning goal late on after Amad had cancelled out Danny Welbeck's initial goal.

Manchester United will be eager to get back on track this afternoon and close off the season on a high note before the first international break thanks to the Brazilian's late heroics. However, Mason Mount, a midfielder, will not be able to play because of a muscle injury sustained during his last game.

Though Manchester United's Premier League debut has been mixed, they defeated Fulham in their opening match and suffered a defeat at Brighton the previous week. Currently Manchester United has a young group of players. However, Erik Ten Hag trusts them as they can play good football and are ready for big challenges. During a pre-match press conference, Erik Ten Hag was asked how Manchester United would bounce back after the defeat to Brighton ahead of the Liverpool game.

“I had to build this club [up again]. We brought young players in, we progressed young players, we won trophies, so what can I do more? As far as I know, the fans are happy with me, but it’s not about me, it’s about Man United, and of course, we set higher targets, we have very high ambitions, the club, the leadership, the team definitely. So everyone sees the potential, and now we have to work very hard to achieve the targets,” Erik Ten Hag said according to The Guardian. Meanwhile, he also wants fans to support and keep the atmosphere heated for Liverpool and the new manager.

Erik Ten Hag will face another Dutchman

Erik Ten Hag will face a fellow Dutchman in the Premier League for the first time during his tenure at United. This will be Arne Slot's first experience with this match-up in a competitive sense since he was appointed as Jurgen Klopp's replacement at Liverpool in May.  In their past three competitive matches with Liverpool, United has won one, drawn two, and is undefeated. Ten Hag has them undefeated while playing Liverpool at home.
