Conor Gallagher's transfer from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid is still on hold, but in these uncertain times, a personal note from Diego Simeone, their manager, might be exactly what he needs. The England player was k ept waiting for the green light to finalize his £33 million deal in a Spanish resort for five days before the Blues arranged for an aircraft to bring him back to London.

Gallagher had already completed his medical examination and even posed for media photos inside their stadium, demonstrating the extent to which the transaction was finalized. Prior to Chelsea pulling out of their £35 million agreement for Samu Omorodion, which could have stalled both transfers, contracts were ready to be completed by both clubs.

Now that the summer transfer story has taken yet another bizarre turn, Gallagher has resumed training with the Blues, albeit there is still some chance that the transaction may go through. Simeone has given the 24-year-old playmaker a note to reassure him and has made it plain that he is eager to sign the player.

Diego Simeone’s message to Connor Gallagher upon transfer collapse rumours

The Argentinian coach contacted Gallagher shortly before he left for his journey back to the UK, telling him he wanted to take his place in the Metropolitano. The Telegraph claims that Simeone expressed his desire for Gallagher to understand his position and how highly he thinks of him.

It comes amid reports that Gallagher turned down three deal proposals from Chelsea to keep his contract until June 2025. The shorter contract period suggests that Chelsea wanted to keep Gallagher around in order to try and sell him for more money.

Wednesday of the next week has been set as the deadline by Atletico Madrid to try and settle the Conor Gallagher dilemma. Gallagher has received a call from Diego Simeone assuring him that he is a priority. Whether it is Joao Felix or Samu Omorodion, Atletico are looking to sell before the middle of the following week. Felix's talks with Chelsea are still ongoing. Atletico wants an additional €50 million. Chelsea has attempted to invest almost €45 million for this transfer to go through.
