After Samu Omorodion's transfer from the Spanish club to Stamford Bridge fell through at the last minute, Conor Gallagher spent five days in Madrid in an attempt to finalize a move to Atletico. The English midfielder, who arrived in London on Tuesday, was called back by the Blues during the transfer upheaval, and he is now scheduled to return to first-team training on Wednesday, as reported by the Daily Mail.

In order to get Conor Gallagher, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea reached a £34 million deal last week. Following the agreement on personal conditions, the midfield player was given authorization to fly for a physical. The Spanish team tweeted a picture of the player visiting their Estadio Metropolitano, demonstrating their confidence in closing a deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has asked Gallagher to come back to England while the negotiations over Atletico's debt are still at a standstill. Though negotiations are not far enough along to keep Gallagher in Spain idle, the two clubs are in talks about an agreement that might see Joao Felix return to west London.

It is anticipated that Los Rojiblancos will be unable to complete the Gallagher deal unless one of their first-team players leaves. Following the failed Omorodion transfer, the club is currently in discussions to bring out-of-favour Portuguese forward Joao Felix to Stamford Bridge and is negotiating a contract.

Atletico Madrid signs Julian Alvarez

For the time being, the Blues academy product will practice under Enzo Maresca; but, he is unlikely to be included in the club's matchday squad for Sunday's Premier League opener against Manchester City since the player has been judged superfluous to the manager's demands.

Meanwhile, ahead of the new La Liga season, Atletico Madrid has signed Julian Alvarez from Manchester City. Julian Alvarez moved to Atletico Madrid because of getting lack of play time as Erling Haaland was the first-choice player for Pep Guardiola. During his time with Manchester City, he won two Premier League titles and was a part of the treble-winning team. He played 103 games and scored 36 goals and 18 assists.
