The English FA wants to impose a lifetime ban on West Ham United's Lucas Paqueta, for his alleged actions of obstructing the investigation into his betting charges. The Brazilian midfielder was charged earlier this year for allegedly breaching betting rules and spot-fixing.

It is alleged by the FA that Paqueta intentionally received yellow cards in matches against Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth last season. Despite denying all allegations, he is still scheduled for a hearing in match 2025 and could face a ban if found guilty.

Paqueta's mobile was confiscated, during the initial initial investigations and his texts, messages, calls and banking transactions were examined. As a result, the former Lyon star acquired a new mobile device.

Although the seized device was returned to Paqueta, the FA has now asked for the mobile phone to conduct additional investigations. However, the player has stated that he has discarded the phone and is unable to locate it.

Paqueta's dismal form continues

Lucas Paqueta, the West Ham United star, has faced challenges in form due to recent betting charges. Although investigations are ongoing, he has continued to be a valuable player for Julen Lopetegui's team, featuring in all matches this season. Despite a drop in form, he has managed to score two goals in nine games across various competitions for the club. His performance highlights include scoring the team's only goal in their league opener against Aston Villa and contributing to their recent league victory over Ipswich Town.
