On Boxing Day, Wolves hosted Manchester United at Molineux as two recently hired Portuguese managers were attempting to turn around the fortune of their teams. Wolves put on one of their greatest performances of the season on Sunday, defeating Leicester 3-0 to start the Vitor Pereira era off nicely and mostly resolving the upheaval that had resulted in Gary O'Neil's departure.

After barely missing out on the Everton job in 2013, the seasoned manager has waited more than ten years for another Premier League opportunity. With Leicester not playing until later, a win tonight would move the team out of the relegation zone.

Manchester United, however, played poorly against Bournemouth to wrap off their pre-Christmas campaign. With Manchester United in the bottom half after their seventh loss of the season. They have now difficult games against Liverpool and Newcastle coming up as the next assignments, Ruben Amorim could need a win here to get some momentum going into the second half of the season.

Strand Larsen's close-range header for Wolves almost gave them the lead a few seconds later, but it was called offside. It was then Matheus Cunha's goal straight from a corner that placed Pereira ahead of his countryman by 1-0. With less than 15s minutes to go, the Wolves maintain their slim advantage and try to change the outcome with a second goal.

Bruno Fernandes sent off after receiving second yellow card

Manchester United's chances of gaining anything from their Christmas trip to Molineux had been seriously harmed when their captain was sent off minutes into the second half. Fernandes received a second yellow card shortly after the half began, leaving his squad with a mountain to climb as the half drew to an end.

Bruno Fernandes has been sent off three times this season, which hasn't been topped since Nemanja Vidic faced a similar in the 2008–09 campaign. He has already seen Red Card against Tottenham and Porto. United's early half-chance will please Amorim, but Leny Yoro getting booked in the fourth minute could spark a conversation later.
