Wolves striker Matheus Cunha may be facing a possible Premier League suspension following an incident involving a member of Ipswich Town’s staff during Saturday’s match.

Despite the challenge, Gary O'Neil's team put in a strong effort but ultimately fell short with a 2-1 defeat at Molineux, as Jack Taylor secured the winning goal for Ipswich Town in the fourth minute of injury time.

Tempers erupted at the final whistle as Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri was shown a red card and had to be restrained by his teammate, Craig Dawson. Meanwhile, Cunha found himself involved in a flared-up situation on the pitch. In what was a heated altercation, Cunha collided with a member of Ipswich's security team and then audaciously snatched the glasses off the man's face after the match, an act that has quickly circulated on social media.

The FA currently awaits confirmation from referee Simon Hooper on whether he will address the incident in his match report before determining if an investigation is necessary.

Cunha to face a major suspension

Former Premier League referee Mike Dean has suggested that Cunha may face scrutiny as a result.

"Going back to the suspension. Cunha, is the biggest player that they’ve got. I’ve watched the footage back afterwards," Mike Dean said.

"He elbows the back of the head of one of the Ipswich coaches. Then he pulls his glasses off and throws them to the pitch. For me, I think he’ll be in trouble with the FA." Dean added.

Additionally, O'Neil addressed the situation involving Ait-Nouri post-match. The left-back received a second yellow card for his actions, which means he will be unavailable for Wolves' upcoming fixture against Leicester City next Sunday.

"I haven't seen it. I have just been told he received a second yellow. I spoke to him during the game. We are under a lot of pressure. We are trying to push the group beyond our level and you can't get yourself in trouble. We are stretched as it is. We need Rayan and now we don't have him. I will deal with that internally" said the coach.
