Tottenham Hotspur entered the match positioned in ninth place in the UEFA Europa League standings and had set their sights on progressing to the next round of the competition.

German club TSG Hoffenheim had faced some challenges in the Europa League and headed into the contest sitting in 26th place. However, on their best days, they have shown the potential to deliver strong performances.

Tottenham Hotspur wins as Son Heung Min scores twice

Tottenham Hotspur took control right from the start, scoring the opener in just the fourth minute, thanks to Maddison.

In the 22nd minute, Son Heung-min doubled their lead. Maddison made an interception of Hoffenheim's pass at midfield, quickly turning and finding Son sprinting into open space. N’Soki failed to intercept the well-placed through-ball, and moments later, Kaderabek couldn't block Son's shot, which soared over the keeper into the net.

Hoffenheim tried to make a surge into the game as they scored their first in the 68th minute bringing the deficit down to just one goal. However, minutes later Son Heuing Min once again found the net to put the match in favour of Tottenham. Son Heuing Min scored a brace with his left foot in the 77th minute almost confirming three points for the side from this fixture.

Hoffenheim tried to make another late surge as they scored their second in the 88th minute, but Tottenham Hotspur maintained their composure in the injury time to win the match 3-2.

The win helped the Premier League club to propel in the Europa League standings. They now sit in the fourth spot with 14 points in seven fixtures. They play their final round one UEFA Europa League fixture on January 31st.
