The match commenced with the visitors taking the initiative, as Aldo López Vargas scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute. However, Rayados responded strongly, levelling the score just before halftime. In the second half, Ramos contributed by netting his debut goal in the 57th minute, putting his team in the lead. Canales later contributed to the scoreline, securing a 4-2 win for Monterrey.

Sergio Ramos demonstrates his Aerial superiority with a bullet header

Ramos expertly capitalized on a precise cross from his fellow Spaniard Sergio Canales, directing a commanding header into the net that left goalkeeper Carlos Acevedo with no chance to respond.

The goal sparked a wave of elation among the fans at Estadio BBVA and prompted an emotional celebration from Ramos, who exchanged smiles with his coach, Martín Demichelis.

Unfortunately, the joy was fleeting, as just seven minutes later, Bruno Barticiotto equalized the match in the 64th minute.

This goal was particularly important for the World Cup champion and four-time UEFA Champions League winner, who has established a reputation for finding the net despite playing as a defender (centre-back)

Sergio Ramos went past the 100-goal mark within just 671 matches in his career. Notably, he netted a remarkable total of 72 goals for Real Madrid while making 469 appearances, all while playing as a defender.
