After successfully completing his medical examination this week, Ramos will bring his extensive experience to Monterrey, signing on a fixed salary with added performance-based bonuses. This move positions him as the highest-paid player on the team's roster.

The former Real Madrid and Spain centre-back has been without a club since he departed from Sevilla at the end of last summer's contract. He has not played a professional game since May 2024, but he has actively maintained his fitness through personal training.

Despite facing injury issues in their defence this season, Real Madrid made the decision not to reach out to their former captain, who made over 650 appearances for the club between 2005 and 2021, regarding a potential return.

Recently, Monterrey president Antonio Noriega revealed that the club is actively negotiating with the centre-back regarding a potential transfer. Last summer, Ramos was in discussions with San Diego FC in MLS. Currently, Monterrey holds the 10th position in the Liga MX Clausura table after playing five matches.

Sergio Ramos began his career at Sevilla before achieving remarkable success with Real Madrid, where he won five La Liga titles and four Champions League titles. In 2021, he transferred to Paris Saint-Germain, where he secured two Ligue 1 titles before making his return to Sevilla.

On the international stage, he played a crucial role in Spain's triumphs, winning the 2010 World Cup and the European Championships in 2008 and 2012. He concluded his international career in 2023, having made 180 appearances for his country.
