Philip Coutinho's interview interrupted

The 32-year-old former Liverpool player was conducting an interview for the media team of a Brazilian club when gunshots were heard in the background. The Aston Villa loanee momentarily lost focus due to the disturbance. Although he was visibly shocked he continued and completed the interview of his segment.

Reports indicate that gunfire sounds in the area are typical as a result of routine police operations. Despite the incident, Coutinho continued with his media obligations.

The 32 year old Brazilian is serving his loan period at the Brazilian club Vasco De Gama. This is his second loan period, having previously played for the Qatar club Al-Duhail in the season 2023-24. He has also represented his national side Brazil in 68 matches. He played his last game for the national team in 2022. The winger has scored 21 goals for his national side across all competitions.

The Brazilian has played for renowned clubs like Liverpool and Barcelona. He is renowned for his stint at Barcelona where he won La Liga, Copa De Espana and Copa Del Rey.

Returning to Vasco, where he launched his senior career, Coutinho is excited about his homecoming after his initial loan from Vasco’s academy to Inter Milan in 2008. Vasco's manager, Fabio Carille, has remained discreet regarding the club's intentions to keep Coutinho alongside fellow former Premier League star Dimitri Payet beyond the conclusion of this season.
