The highly anticipated Premier League matchup between Liverpool and Manchester United is scheduled for January 5 at Anfield, marking the start of a new year. But the anticipation for this match is dampened by an amber weather warning, which predicts snowfall in the area, raising questions over whether the match will go ahead as planned.
With ground staff putting in endless effort to clear snow and preserve playing conditions, both clubs have verified that preparations are on to guarantee Anfield is ready for the match. In order to corroborate the conditions, the home team also said that another evaluation would be conducted later in the day. The much-anticipated match is set to begin at 10 p.m. IST.
"Today’s fixture against Manchester United will go ahead as planned. Two safety meetings were held earlier to assess the weather and travel conditions. We thank everyone involved in helping us to get this game on today."If you’re travelling to Anfield then please take extra care. We look forward to seeing you there," Liverpool released the statement on match status.
In addition to confirming the development, Manchester United advised the travelling supporters to use caution. "Our match against Liverpool is set to still go ahead at this stage, despite snow and weather warnings in the North West today. Take care if you are travelling to the game — we will update you with the latest developments," it said.

Liverpool aiming for Premier League title
So far in this season, Liverpool has been in dominant form under Arne Slot's leadership. With a comfortable six-point advantage over second-place Arsenal, the Reds are now leading the Premier League standings. Their impressive record of 14 victories, 3 draws, and only 1 loss in 18 games, totalling 45 points, highlights their superiority. Manchester United, on the other hand, is having a hard time getting established. With a pitiful 22 points after 19 games, Ruben Amorim's Red Devils are sagging in 14th position.
With losses in five of their previous six league games, including home losses to Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, and Newcastle, as well as a 2-0 setback at relegation-threatened Wolves, their recent play has been dreadful. After Sunday's match, Manchester United will play Arsenal in round three of the FA Cup next Sunday, while Liverpool will play Tottenham in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
