Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, has denied resting the team's best players for the forthcoming Premier League 2024–25 matchup with Manchester United. The game is slated for January 5, 2025, at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium. With 14 victories in 18 games, Liverpool leads the points table right now, while Manchester United appears to be having a difficult season as they are in 14th place and have lost four straight games in all competitions.

Even if Manchester United has had a bad season and Liverpool has had a strong one, Arne Slot has stated that the important players will play versus United and does not want to assess them based solely on their current position in the points table. When asked what will be the game plan and the player role he said, "Rotating players against Man United? No, not an option. I said it before the first fixture and I can say it one more time they have much better players, in my opinion, than maybe the league table shows at the moment."

Aren Slot continued by reflecting on Manchester United's play during the current campaign. The coach of Liverpool believed that their bitter opponents were a far superior team to what the points table indicated. Slot added that it might also be difficult for Ruben Amorim, United's new head coach and that the former Portuguese player would soon inspire the team to reach its full potential. After replacing Erik ten Hag, United has only won two of their last eight Premier League games, leaving them in 14th place going into the weekend as near to the bottom three as they are to the top seven.

Slot, however, seemed agitated when questioned about the possibility of resting some of his important players this weekend. The Dutchman has dismissed the idea of benching players like Virgil van Dijk or Mohamed Salah for Liverpool's midweek matchup against Tottenham in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semifinal.
