Lionel Messi confronts the referee after Miami's disappointing draw

Inter Miami's captain, Lionel Messi, was seen getting involved in a heated argument with the referee following the conclusion of the fixture against San Jose. The Argentine skipper was upset after his side drew against San Jose on May 15th.

Inter Miami and San Jose's fixture ended in a 3-3 stalemate. Although Lionel Messi was not among the scorers, he was involved in the team's offensive duties right from the start.

Lionel Messi confronts referee over unfair decision 

Lionel Messi and on-field referee Joseph Dickerson were involved in a heated altercation after the final whistle. Lionel Messi was fouled just outside San Jose's box in the last moments of the fixture. Messi demanded a foul on him as he raised his hands in the air, but the referee denied it and chose to keep the ball rolling.

This incident sparked a heated confrontation between the two individuals following the final whistle. Messi almost earned himself a Red card as he protested against the unfair decision of the referee.

Although the Argentine World champion failed to score in this fixture, he was the focal point of Miami's offence. He created many chances with his inch-perfect passes and through balls. The Herons came back from behind on two different occasions in the match to draw the game. The draw dragged down the Supporters' Shield holders to the fifth spot in the latest Eastern Conference Major League Soccer standings.

The Argentine hero is also gearing up for the newly structured FIFA World Cup, which is set to be hosted in the USA in the month of June. Inter Miami has been placed alongside Porto, Palmeiras and Al-Ahly.
