Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was seen spending some time with the fans as he gave autographs to the fans present for the team’s training. While interacting with the supporters present, the Norwegian attacker did not hesitate in signing jerseys of Argentina with Lionel Messi’s name on it. The video was captured a day prior to Manchester City’s pre-season game against Celtic.
However, one thing that has sparked some eyesights over the attacker is that he gave a wry smile while signing a Manchester United jersey with Cristiano Ronaldo’s name on it. Considering the long history between the two Manchester clubs, Haaland did not hesitate while giving an autograph on a rival team’s jersey. Despite all this, fans on social media have noticed the smile that he had on his face while the incident occurred.
Celtic stun Manchester City in pre-season friendly
In a preseason friendly on Tuesday, Celtic defeated Manchester City 4-3 thanks to goals from Nicolas Kuhn twice and Luis Palma in the 68th minute. During the 57th minute, Erling Haaland of Norway, donning the captain's armband for the very first time, headed home an equalizer at Kenan Memorial Stadium, but Honduran international Palma scored the decisive goal while on the counter-attack.
After trailing 3-1 at the break, Manchester City responded just minutes later through a goal from recently introduced 21-year-old Argentine replacement Maximo Perrone, who scored with his first touch on the ball with a left-footed effort from the right side towards the far corner. In the 57th minute, Oscar Bobb's centering pass was headed in by Haaland to tie the score for City.
However, Palma, who had entered the game three minutes earlier, completed a three-man breakaway to give Celtic the lead in the 68th minute, leaving City's defenders caught off guard near midfield after pressuring with the backline. The ball was knocked over the crossbar by Finnish goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo in the 76th minute, denying City replacement Ben Knight an equalizer.
