Former Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli has stoked a new controversy by making controversial comments on French players. Just a few days ago, Enzo Fernandez was in the news for racist chants aimed at French players after winning the COPA America 2024 title.

Jorge Sampaoli as quoted by Barca Universal had said “Dembele plays like an autistic. He doesn't have the ability to make a teammate shine, he only knows how to shine himself. Mbappe is a bit like that."

France had lost to Spain in the semi-finals of the EURO 2024 tournament. Argentina was the team that beat France to win the FIFA World Cup 2022 title on penalties. It isn’t clear yet as to what brought Jorge Sampaoli to make such comments, especially calling a player ‘Autistic’ which is seen as a huge insult.

Yet another controversy stoked by an Argentine towards French players

The comments made by Jorge Sampaoli aren’t going to sit down well with a lot of French fans and players. Jorge Sampaoli has coached a lot of clubs during the course of his career both in America as well as Europe. His last assignment was with Flamengo where he managed just one year with 20 wins from 39 matches and 11 draws and 8 losses.

Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembele has spoken about his former club FC Barcelona and shared his views after joining PSG. It is a well-documented fact that Dembele didn’t have a great time at Camp Nou after his arrival from Borussia Dortmund as he struggled with form and fitness.

Dembele as quoted by Goal said, “I stay focused, I gave it my all. Barca is a great club. I love Barcelona... And I understand the whistles. That's life”. The French star also credited former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique for making him a better player at PSG.

During his chat with MARCA, the French star said “Luis Enrique gives me a lot of freedom. At Barcelona, I was more attached to the wing. At PSG, I can play anywhere. As a number 10, in the wing, as a false nine. I had more freedom in the 2nd half of the season. The coach told me to keep moving, except when I had to maintain my position on the wing”
