FC Barcelona's financial predicament might prevent them from signing new player Dani Olmo, which would be advantageous to Manchester United. After experiencing triumph with the national team at UEFA Euro 2024, the Spain star finalized a £60 million move. As things stand, though, the celebrity might be able to begin the forthcoming campaign with the Catalan team.

The easiest approach to get on the right track and also lower the pay bill, short of discovering new ways to bring in the money, is to sell off players. That might make Frenkie de Jong more susceptible to leaving the club, even if he doesn’t want to.

There are no talks in progress on new terms for the Dutch midfielder, whose contract expires in 2026. There have been rumors that Barcelona could be open to selling the footballer for £51 million. De Jong, nevertheless, is eager to stay at Camp Nou and has previously stated that this season.

The former Ajax superstar said, "Staying at Barca? Yes, I’m very happy in Barcelona with my family, for sure. Hansi Flick wants me to be key. I talked to him. It was good."

Previously during a conversation with Gary Neville, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag also stated about the desire to have Frenkie de Jong at the club. He said, "It would have been Frenkie de Jong and Casemiro [in the middle]. They would really be connected with each other. They would be really complementary to each other. That's a typical player. If you want to play the Ajax style, you need that type of player."

When does the contract of Frenkie de Jong expire?

FC Barcelona might benefit from Manchester United's offer as they continue to prioritize signing a midfield player. They've already targeted De Jong, an Ajax employee who worked alongside Erik ten Hag.

Yesterday, United confirmed the addition of two more former Ajax players. The team strengthened its defense by completing the transfers of Matthijs de Ligt as well as Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. The team has strengthened at the center of midfield, where they have added Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee.
