Following their 2-2 draw with Manchester City, Arsenal had a serious injury scare when goalie David Raya was seen hobbling out of Etihad Stadium with a bandage over his leg. The Spaniard was excellent against the top-ranked team in the Premier League, making multiple saves to keep the home team from tying the score until John Stones pulled Manchester City even during the 98th minute.

Arsenal came dangerously close to winning at Etihad Stadium for the first time since 2015. They will be dismayed to have only picked up a point, but things might have gotten worse if Raya hadn't made some amazing saves. The visitors started the second half with ten men shortly after Leandro Trossard got sent off in the last moments of the first half.

Manager Mikel Arteta may now have a selection dilemma when the Gunners return to play on Wednesday as they face Bolton Wanderers for the Carabao Cup third round before facing Leicester City in their Premier League match on Saturday.

Tommy Setford, the third-choice goaltender acquired in the summer, has not been a part of the previous three matchday lineups, while Neto is cup-tied due to his previous appearance in the competition with AFC Bournemouth. Arteta will be hoping that Raya has not suffered any major injuries. Arsenal might have to play Raya in the midweek match or select one of their young goalkeepers.

Arsenal and their injury woes this season

They already have injuries that rule out Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Kieran Tierney. The last thing that Arsenal needs right now is to lose Raya to a knock, and additional testing will be done on him next week to ascertain the extent of his ailment.

Ben White was forced out of the starting lineup before coming on in the second half. However, manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that it was a tactical change and not because of any sort of injury.
