To save Manchester City against Arsenal, John Stones scored the most recent equalizer. After putting up a fierce fight throughout the second half, the 10-man Gunners were only minutes away from a historic triumph over the reigning champions. To maintain City's unblemished record this season, though, Stones had the final laugh.

Because of Erling Haaland's 100th goal for the team in the ninth minute, Man City took the lead early. Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes' goals in the 22nd and first minute of first-half extra time, however, gave the Gunners a good chance to rally. John Stones, who tucked home in the last seconds of the game to earn Manchester City a draw, has devastated Arsenal fans all across the world. The game's final kick undid all the hard work the Gunners had put in throughout a remarkable and courageous second-half performance.

Watch here the video:

In the 97th minute, the home team had another brief corner, but this time, the ball was moved into the box, where Stones prodded home after David Raya made a save. The game's turning point came when Rodri injured his knee on a corner and had to be substituted, giving Arsenal a chance to recover and delay City's offensive. On his debut, Riccardo Calafiori scored a spectacular long-range goal to tie the score. Then, the Gunners took the lead thanks to Gabriel's well-known header from a corner, which rose highest at the back post.

Mikel Arteta's team had their greatest stretch of play before halftime

Before the half, Mikel Arteta's team had their greatest stretch of play, but just before the break, they took a serious setback. Trossard was sent off for delaying the restart after giving away a free kick and booting the ball up the pitch while already on a yellow card.

Only the final shot of the half saw Manchester City breakthrough Arsenal's defense out of a total of 26 attempts. Stones became an empty net after Mateo Kovacic's shot was diverted into his path. After the break, it created the conditions for a siege by City, but Arsenal fought back with bravery, tenacity, and organization, helped by goalkeeper David Raya's heroics. However, they were denied just in time, as they were about to cause the champions to lose at home for the first time since Brentford triumphed at Arsenal Stadium in November 2022.
