Following the controversy in the AFC Champions League quarterfinals last season, Al Nassr is playing Al Ain again. After a 4–4 aggregate score over two legs failed to produce a winner, the visitors won last time out on penalties. The Saudi Pro League reigning champions Al Hilal and the hosts drew 1-1 before this ACL Elite match. After the tie, the team captained by Cristiano Ronaldo has lost their previous three games across all competitions.
The second goal for Al Nassr against Al Ain in the match for Matchday 4 of the AFC Champions League first phase has been scored by Cristiano Ronaldo. In addition to his 908th career goal, the Portuguese scored his 35th goal of the year. Ronaldo, 39, is showing no signs of slowing down, as his goal in the 31st minute puts his total for club and country at 908 goals. This is his 73rd goal for Al Nassr in 82 games.

In the 31st minute, Ronaldo gave Al-Nassr a 2-0 lead when Eisa cleared Sadio Mane's long-range attempt. Only five minutes into the game, Talisca opened the score with a Mohamed Simakan assist. Al Nassr, however, did not stop there. Having just lost to Al Hilal 1-1 and been eliminated from the King Cup of Champions, they scored the third goal before the first half was over. The cause this time was Fabio Rodrigues's own goal.
