Manchester United found themselves in 12th place in the Europa League standings, and while they've faced some challenges this season, there's potential for improvement. In contrast, Viktoria Plzen were positioned just below them in 13th place and had shown commendable performance this year.

Manchester United demonstrated some progress under Ruben Amorim, but there were critical issues that needed addressing before the match. The Red Devils struggled defensively in their last outing, and Viktoria Plzen was not underestimated; they had the potential to cause an upset.

United won despite Onana's blunder

The fixture had a rather lacklustre start as both teams failed to breach the others' defences despite coming in with reasonable efforts. However, the game took a turn early in the second half as Viktoria Plzen pressed very aggressively and tried to maintain a high line of play. Things took a disastrous turn for the Red Devils when their goalkeeper, Andre Onana lost possession to Plzen players inside the box. Pavel Sulc passed the ball to Vydra who made no mistake and hammered the ball into United's net.

The Red Devils demonstrated resilience by mounting a strong comeback. The substitutes made a notable impact; Antony created an opportunity for Amad, who manoeuvred past his defender. His deflected cross-shot from the right found its way to Hojlund, who finished expertly from close range.

In the 88th minute, Hojlund scored a fantastic second goal. He made a great run onto Fernandes' clever free kick and struck decisively, securing the winning goal. United emerged victorious with a close score of 2-1.
