Former Coventry City standout forward Viktor Gyokeres has reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon regarding a summer transfer. Reports from the Mirror suggest that the striker has a verbal agreement in place that allows him to depart in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The news comes as a relief to all the suitors who are in pursuit of signing the Sporting Lisbon star following his impressive exploits this season. The Sporting CP star's drop in market value is sure to land him in the club of his choice in the next season.
Victor Gyokeres to leave Sporting CP this season
According to reports from the Mirror, Gyokeres will be allowed to depart if a fee in the range of £50.2m to £58.5m is offered in the upcoming transfer window.
Clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester United will likely be relieved to learn this figure, which is significantly lower than his previously reported release clause of £83.6m.
However, the news is less favourable for the Sky Blues, who hold a 10 percent sell-on clause and stand to benefit financially from any profit on the initial fee they received when they sold him in 2023.
Gyokeres had garnered significant attention from top European clubs after his hat-trick against Premier League giants Manchester City in the league phase of UCL. The talented striker, who is known for' his'mask celebration,' has netted 38 goals in 36 appearances this season across club competitions.
Top Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea have already been informed about him being a 'free agent' this coming June.
“Gyokeres was leaving in the summer, a year ago, a year and a half ago. Gyokeres was going to leave anyway. We were champions and he was already leaving.” Frederico Varandas said.
“In January it was impossible and it remained so; I’m not going to add to it; it’s already very media-driven and it’s not worth talking about the summer market.” said Frederico Varandas
