Two clubs in tug of war to acquire service of Mason Greenwood in 2024/25 season

The 22-year-old footballer has been linked moving out of his loan spell and go back to Old Trafford, however the Red Devils are keen selling the footballer in the 2024/25 season.

Mason Greenwood was considered one of the most promising talents in world football. The English winger had been charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour. He denied all of the charges against him. Since then, Manchester United have not brought back their footballer to the team as he plays in La Liga for Getafe FC. He won the Player of the Season with the Spanish club as well. 

The 22-year-old footballer has been linked to moving out of his loan spell and going back to Old Trafford, however, the Red Devils are keen on selling the footballer in the 2024/25 season. The club is planning for a permanent sale of the footballer in the upcoming summer window. Juventus have shown interest in signing the footballer for the forthcoming years, the Serie A club has offered £25m plus bonuses in the coming weeks. 

But United are asking something £ 50 million, and the Old Lady is yet to start their negotiations with the club to buy the footballer. Along with Juve, Atletico Madrid is also in the race to sign the footballer. The Spanish club is planning to offer a player swap deal. Diego Simeone's side will be offering Joao Felix to acquire the service of the English international

Greenwood attract interest after success in La Liga 

After serving a 13-month ban, the charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service. Since returning to the top tier football, he has scored 10 goals and six assists across 36 games in all competitions. He has gained multiple interest from clubs except these two. Previously, FC Barcelona enquired about the footballer, but they have not had any kind of movements for months now. 

Greenwood has played just one international game for the Three Lions before being sent back home for breaking the COVID-19 rules back in 2020. For United, he has featured in 129 games for the senior side scoring 36 goals. With the transfer window opening in a couple of days, it will be interesting to watch who wins the battle to acquire Greenwood.
