Thiago Motta has already agreed terms with Juventus, for a three years deal. The Italian manager's deal is valid until June 2027. The club has announced the manager on Thursday. He had a remarkable season in charge of the Rossoblu, guiding them towards the UEFA Champions League for the very first time in the history of the club.

During his playing career, has two La Liga titles, one Serie A title, five Ligue 1 titles and two Champions League winners medals. As a coach, he transformed the club from Serie A strugglers to one that can compete with the league leaders as well. Despite having poor pre-season, everyone was shocked as they finished in the top 4 of the table. However, in the 2023/24 season, he transformed the team as the team in defensive foundation is one of the strongest in Europe this season with just 0.8 non-penalty expected goals conceded.

His 2-7-2 formation was revolutionary on paper, this appears to be a situation in which the team lines up without a goalie, only two defenders, and seven players crowded into the middle; however, this is not the case. Motta adopted this formation after changing his perspective on the game. Instead of the typical manner of seeing a tactical set-up horizontally, he effectively has seven players in the central channel with two players out wide on each flank.

Will Juventus bring back their glory days?

The Old Lady club who has struggled in the European circuit will be looking to make a comeback in the top tier and win some major trophies as well. They finished 3rd in the league table and they opted out from the European Super League and will be featuring in the UCL.

The former Paris Saint-Germain coach will be looking to settle in the team and bring in some signings in the summer window. Former Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri is expected to take over from Thiago Motta if he departs Bologna during the summer.
