FC Barcelona ended the hopes of their arch-rivals Real Madrid of at least silverware this season as they defeated Espanyol to claim the La Liga trophy for the season 2024-25. Real Madrid are thus now dethroned from both domestic and European club competitions.
FC Barcelona emerged victorious with a 2-0 scoreline against Espanyol at RCDE Stadium. The club's youngest player was the star of the show as he netted one goal and assisted another to seal Barcelona's victory.
Hansi Flick had impressed everyone in his debut season with the Catalans as he bagged three trophies. Flick bagged the domestic treble in his debut season with the club. The German manager has not only turned the side around but has also raised them into being world-beaters. Flick's high defensive line strategy did wonders for the club, which played with the same intensity and flair throughout the season.
Following the victory over Espanyol, Hansi Flick revealed his favourite moments from the current season. He disclosed that 4 El Clásico victories against arch-rivals Real Madrid would go down as his highlights from the entire season.
"My favourite moment of the season? The four Clásicos vs Real Madrid," Hansi Flick said.
The first El Clásico of the season saw the two rivals compete in their regular La Liga fixture. Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-0 in that match. Their second appearance was in the finals of the Supercopa de España, where Barcelona again humbled Real Madrid 5-2. Barcelona completed the hat-trick of wins in the Copa del Rey finals last month, where they won 3-2. Barcelona's final victory came against Real Madrid during their reverse La Liga fixture, where they won 4-3.
Real Madrid conceded a total of 16 goals against Hansi Flick's team while scoring only 7. Hansi Flick's side is set to go into the next season as the newly crowned champions of La Laliga.
