After enduring a heartbreaking loss against Inter Milan in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League, Hansi Flick motivated his team for the upcoming El Clásico. He urged his team to channel their pain of missing the UCL finals into a show of authority against Los Blancos.
Catalan's aspirations in Europe faced an unexpected setback on Tuesday, extinguishing their hopes of achieving a quadruple this season. With their European journey over, their focus now shifts entirely to the Liga title race, where they currently enjoy a four-point lead over defending champions Real Madrid, with just four matches remaining.
"We spoke about what they (the players) are thinking, what they are feeling, it's important in a group that we speak about that," Flick said.
"Everyone knows that in a Clasico, you have to be on your highest level, that's what we have to do. We want to be active, we want to see the team (play) with intensity on the pitch, dominant as normal, and we know it's a really fantastic team from Real (against us)." Flick said.
Hansi Flick's side has maintained a hundred per cent record against Real Madrid this season. The Catalans have humiliated Los Blancos thrice this season. In the first El Clásico of the season, FC Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-0. In the second match, Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 5-2 in the finals of the Supercopa de España. In the Copa Del Rey finals, Barcelona again emerged on top with a 3-2 scoreline.
